A fresh look for routine posters, flyers, and publications: 2019
As my colleague and mentor prepared to leave after a career spanning four decades, he had me take over many of his routine projects and give them a fresh look.
The first of these projects was to create a 24x36" sign that would update a previous design to better match our directory and could be used in various locations to let people know what our organization had to offer.
The original poster, the directory, my first attempt, the final version, and the mockup.
Next was the flyer for the single servicemembers' organization: BOSS. Since the audience was young adults, I wanted to increase the appeal.

One of the most dramatic makeovers was the bowling alley menu. We were able to license images and design elements from Getty Images which helped in our time-crunched environment.
Some of the elements were kept for consistency's sake, but the general look was updated. Potentially sensitive details are redacted.
The most intensive overhaul was one best done in increments: the monthly bulletin that was inserted in the weekly paper distributed throughout the installations. The bulletin was also handed out to all newcomers, and could be found at many of the recreational facilities. One of the most time consuming aspects of this was building it from scratch in InDesign; previously, it had been designed and updated each month in Illustrator.
