Gingerbread Mermaid Sticker Concept
Briefbox project, Winter 2017
The mission: to create an illustrated sticker based on food with bright, lively colors and a simple cutting path.
When I started brainstorming for this project, holiday foods were everywhere. I thought it would be fun to create a sticker based on a gingerbread cookie, but with a fantasy twist so it would be relevant year-round. The idea for a mermaid emerged and I began to sketch it out.
I used Adobe Capture to digitize the project and then brought it into Adobe Draw to refine.

Once I was satisfied with the basic shape, I sent the file to Illustrator to make further adjustments and add color.
The brief called for the sticker to be provided in four formats: black and white, full color, in color with cutting lines displayed, and a mock-up.
The feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive, with one request: more detail on the tail. Looking back at my original sketch, I realize that I neglected to add the scales! I will be revising this in the near future to rectify that oversight.
